摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new binaphthalene derivative utilizable as a hole transporting or hole injecting material for an organic electroluminescent (EL) element usable for a flat surface source and display, an electrophotographic photoreceptor or the like; and to provide a method for producing the binaphthalene derivative. SOLUTION: The binaphthalene derivative is represented by general formula (1) (wherein, R<SP>1</SP>to R<SP>6</SP>are each independently a hydrogen atom, a linear, branched or cyclic alkyl group or alkoxy group, an aryl group, an aryloxy group, a halogen atom or an amino group; Ar<SP>1</SP>and Ar<SP>2</SP>are each independently a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group or heteroaromatic group, or may from a nitrogen-containing heterocycle with a bonded nitrogen atom).
