The device has a conveyor belt (12) for the profile (16) to be machined, and a gripper (18) for gripping the machined profile. The gripper is arranged rotatable about the longitudinal axis (20). It is mounted at the front end of a guide element (22). An actuating rod (38) is held in the guide element and the latter can be rotated together with the gripper. The actuating rod can be moved by a linear adjustment element (46) and a guide (48, 50) designed like a balance beam.
