<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a configuration which can be performed easily and freely when an external application is introduced into the so-called multifunction machine which can execute functions of each apparatus such as a printer and a scanner with an apparatus consisting of one cabinet. <P>SOLUTION: It comprises a flash memory 210 and a hard disk drive unit 103. When it performs image processing which corresponds using each specific application stored in these storages, and when the application stored in the hard disc drive unit is activated, it is activated after carrying out a certain diagnostic process to the storage concerned.
