PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for generating an optical diffusion sign in which a processing time is short and a power consumption is small, and to provide an apparatus and a method for collating the optical diffusion sign and an optical router.

SOLUTION: The apparatus for collating the optical diffusion sign collates a pattern for generating an optical diffusion sign signal SS with a collating pattern CP. The apparatus includes a dividing means 70 for dividing a strength of the input optical diffusion sign signal SS, delay means 72(0) to (n) for imparting different optical propagation delay times to divided optical diffusion sign signals DSS(0) to (n) at respective branch channels 71(0) to (n), collating sign means 73 for conducting/cutting off the divided signals DSS(0) to (n) for propagating branched channels 71(0) to (n) based on the pattern CP, and a combining means 74 for generating combination signal CS obtained by combining the strengths of the two or more conducted signals DSS(0) to (n).
