PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for displacing a liquid material in a head ejecting the liquid material in the form of liquid drops without causing the problem of clogging a head. SOLUTION: In the method for displacing a liquid material, a second liquid material, i.e. water dispersing polymer ink, displaces a first liquid material in a head stepwise through a liquid material added with a surfactant. Since the liquid material added with a surfactant exhibits both hydrophilicity and hydrophobicity, the first liquid material can be washed away and removed and the problem of mixing the first and second liquid materials in the head can be avoided.
