PURPOSE: A piston cooling jet system for a vehicle is provided to jet a proper amount of oil according to oil temperature, piston position and engine rpm for reducing the blow-by gas amount in case of engine cooling and taking proper measures for the changes in the piston cooling jet capacity and the engine output. CONSTITUTION: A piston cooling jet system for a vehicle includes a sub gallery(24) mounted in a crank case of a cylinder block and communicated to an oil pan(22), and solenoid valves(26) mounted to oil inlets of cooling jets. An oil pump(28) pumps oil in the oil pan for keeping the internal oil pressure of the sub gallery uniformly. An electronic control unit(38) controls the oil pump according to signals output from an oil pressure sensor(30), an oil temperature sensor(32), a piston position sensor(34), and an engine rpm sensor(36). A check valve(40) is mounted between the oil pump and the sub gallery to keep the uniform oil pressure by preventing the reverse flow of the oil as far as the oil is not jetted by the cooling jets.
