<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely specify a document creator entirely or partially responsible for an original and a changed document, and an acknowledger. <P>SOLUTION: This electronic document management system has an original creator terminal 2A for newly creating an electronic original, generating a hash value from the original, and transmitting it with the original; a document management server 5 for storing and managing the original and hash value transmitted through the network, and transmitting the original and hash value to the network according to an acknowledgement request; and an acknowledger terminal 4 for generating a new hash value from the original and hash value transmitted from the original former terminal or document management server through the network, and transmitting at least the generated hash value to the document management server through the network.
