NAVIGATION APPARATUS AND MAP DISPLAY METHOD IN THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation apparatus and a map display method in the same which enables an operator to easily recognize one's present location without performing a switching operation on the scale of a map.

SOLUTION: The navigation apparatus comprises a map database; a location specifying means for specifying a location to be displayed on a screen from the map database; a map extracting means for extracting a map of a prescribed region with reference to the specified location from the map database; and a map display means for displaying the extracted map on a prescribed map display region. Maps extracted at a reduced scale more than that of a center part is displayed at least at first and second opposing sections which are located at peripheral parts of the map display region and sandwich a center part of the map display region.
