<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photocurable coating composition for golf balls needing no priming treatment prior to coating and realizing practical-level adhisiveness to the golf balls, and to provide the resultant golf balls. <P>SOLUTION: The coating composition for golf balls comprises a water-based resin having photocurable functional groups in the skeleton, a photoinitiator and a crosslinking agent. This coating composition, because of being highly adhesive to even a molded form of ionomer resin or urethane resin used in golf balls, needs no priming treatment prior to coating and the resulting cured coating film has sufficient adhesiveness to the coated surface. In addition, as this coating composition is photocurable, operating efficiency in golf ball manufacturing process can be improved.
