PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydraulic cylinder of a hydraulic elevator in which seals such as packing and seal rings can be easily checked and maintained even in a place small in installation area, and the working and assembly are easy. SOLUTION: In a hydraulic jack of a hydraulic elevator, a ram accommodated in a cylinder tube is expanded/contracted by pressure oil against the weight of a cage for loading persons and/or cargoes. The hydraulic jack has a ram part comprising the cylinder tube for ram which is smaller in diameter than the ram, concentric with the ram, and disposed inside the ram, a hollow disk to connect the ram to a bottom side of the cylinder tube for ram with one side thereof subjected to the pressure oil, and a lid for ram to connect the ram to a head side of the cylinder tube for ram with one side thereof connected to the cage or a balance weight.
