PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power converter that supplies power to electronic equipment, without causing failures that follow discharge of a battery power supply, with little power consumption at backing up. SOLUTION: There are provided a switch element Q, A capacitor C and DC reactor L for smoothing a current flowing a low voltage side LV, and a diode D that refluxes the current of low voltage side LV. The switch element Q performs nonlinear operation at normal conversion, while it performs linear operation at backing up. Related to the converter, the power consumption at conversion operation is smaller than that for the conventional ones, and the power can be supplied at both normal conversion and back up.
