PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image sensor for enhancing the quality of an image, which locally includes a part having high luminance. SOLUTION: The image sensor for picking-up the image includes: a photoelectric transducer for generating a current, in response to a light reception amount; a reset transistor for resetting the node of the photoelectric transducer to perform resetting, to obtain a reset potential; a plurality of pixels arranged in a matrix direction; and a sample-and-hold circuit for sampling and holding pixel potential, corresponding to the potential of the node in the pixels. The sample-and-hold circuit outputs difference potential as a pixel signal between a first pixel potential, when an integration period is ended after the first reset operation of the pixels, and a second pixel potential when a reset noise reading period is ended, after a second reset operation when the integration period passes. When the second pixel potential during the reset noise reading period exceeds a prescribed threshold level, the second pixel potential is defined as prescribed reference potential in the sample-and-hold circuit.
