An apparatus for private personal identification number (PIN) management, the apparatus comprises a first memory, a second memory and a PIN comparator. The first memory comprises a persistent mutable memory and is configured to store an exponent and a second PIN that has been validated. The second memory comprises a nonpersistent mutable memory and is configured for storing a session PIN flag and a first PIN. The PIN comparator is coupled to the first memory and the second memory and is configured to receive a first request for a service having restricted access and match a second PIN with a first PIN that is associated with the first request. The PIN comparator is further configured to allow access to the service based at least in part on the matching, increment an exponent if the second PIN does not match the first PIN, and delay for a delay period based at least in part on the exponent if the second PIN does not match the first PIN. |
