The stereomicroscope (1) has an objective (6) followed by a zoom system (8), with the optical axis (6a) of the objective at an angle to the optical axis (9) of the zoom system and a number of deflection elements (10,12a,..12e), for deflecting the beam from the objective to the zoom system and deflecting the beam from the zoom system along a further parallel axis (15). At least one optical element (19) for extending the beam path is positioned along the zoom system axis and/or the further parallel axis.
