<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust toner concentration with a more appropriate operation in accordance with an operation of forming a color image or a monochromatic image, and also, to suppress the excessive deterioration of components. <P>SOLUTION: It is decided whether the value of a color mode CMode is a color image forming mode or a monochromatic image forming mode (S200 and S210), and in the case of the color image forming mode, cyan, magenta, yellow and black toner test images are formed (S220), on the other hand, in the case of the monochromatic image forming mode, only the black toner test image is formed (S230). The toner concentration of the formed test toner image is detected by a toner concentration sensor (S240), and a control parameter for controlling a toner image forming operation is set based on the detected toner density (S250). Consequently, the toner concentration can be adjusted with the more appropriate operation in accordance with the operation of forming the color image or the monochromatic image, and also, the excessive deterioration of the components is suppressed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
