PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively use a sheet of roll paper when at least the address and name of a sender are read from a delivered article such as a registered mail and a parcel post, and printed on the sheet of roll paper, so as to issue a receipt. SOLUTION: A receipt issuing system includes an image reading part 21 for reading the address and name of the sender from the registered mail or the parcel post; a temporary storage part 13b for storing the address and name of the sender read by an image reading part; a printer 19 for printing them on the sheet of roll paper; a size storage part 13a for storing the width size of the sheet of roll paper; and a printing data generating means for comparing the longitudinal size of a printing area for the address and name of the sender with the width size of the sheet of roll paper, rotating the address and name of the sender by 90°as they are when the longitudinal size is not more than the width size of the roll paper, or rotating the address and name of the sender by 90°after reducing them to be not more than the width size of the roll paper when the longitudinal size is larger than the width size of the roll paper, and generating printing data to issue the receipt through the use of the address and name of the sender rotated by 90°.
