PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply detect clogging of a filter used in a washing tank. SOLUTION: A photosensitive material 25 is successively transmitted to first to fourth washing tanks 13 to 16 to wash the material 25. Washing water in the tanks 13 to 16 is circulated along the width direction of the material 25 by circulating systems 59 and 60a to 60c. The system 59 of the fourth tank 16 is constituted of the tank 16, a subtank 50, a filter 53 which is arranged on the bottom of the subtank 50, a heater 55 and a pump 56. A washing water temperature adjusting means is constituted of a thermistor 58, a heater 55 and a controller 74. During heat-up of washing water after the power supply is turned on, the water temperature is measured by the thermistor 58 to obtain a temperature rising speed V. When the speed V is equal to or smaller than a discrimination reference temperature rising speed V1, it is judged that the filter 53 is clogged and an alarm is given.
