PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing apparatus in which the reduction of processing speed and the failure of form feed are prevented and quick processing is made possible by enabling switching so that buffering is not performed always but only when required. SOLUTION: The printing apparatus comprises a continuous form printing means 31 for printing continuous form, a cut sheet number-designating means 39 for designating the number of cut sheets of printed continuous form by an operator, a printed sheet number-counting means 41 for counting the number of printed sheets printed by the continuous form-printing means 31 and subtracting the previous result of counting when the designated number of cut sheets is reached, and a cutting indication means 40 for indicating cutting to a cutting means 32 based on the indication from a host apparatus or when the result of counting by the printed sheet number-counting means 41 agrees with the designated number of cut sheets, and a cutting means 32 for cutting the printed continuous form by the indication from the cutting indication means 40.
