Two binary data words A and B received simultaneously and serially (most significant bit first) are compared and the greater routed to " Hi " output (with inverted form " #Hi ") and the lower to "Lo" output (inverted form " Lo "). This is effected by " and " gates such as 83, " or " gates such as 84, inverters such as 87, and two flip-flops 92, 94 which are reset before the words are received and one of which is set by the first pair of unequal bits to disable two of the " and " gates 82, 83, 88, 89.
