A method and corresponding equipment, the method for enabling a Node B/base station to distinguish different states--HARQ active states and a DTX (non-transmitting) state--of a UE in respect to use of the feedback HSDPA (high-speed downlink packet access) channel HS-DPCCH over which the UE sends acknowledgement messages (ACK/NACK) to tile Node B in response to receiving packets via the HSDPA (downlink) data channel HS-DPCH, the method including steps in which the UE additionally sends preamble symbols if an acknowledgement message (ACK/NACK) is to be sent in a next time interval but not in the current time interval, and at least one postamble symbol prior to the UE entering the non-transmitting state (DTX). |
