<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine translation device for translating a sentence after dividing the sentence so that the translatability of each divided part is improved. <P>SOLUTION: The method includes a step for defining a plurality of nodes including a beginning and an end of an input sentence, steps 72, 74, 76, 78 and 80 for dividing the input sentence, a plurality of nodes of which are defined, into one or more than one part by any combination of a plurality of nodes according to predetermined criteria, and a step for generating a translated result of one or more than one part. The predetermined criteria include the criterion in which the first priority is given to a dividing method where the number of words included in the part where the translated result cannot be obtained is small and the first priority is given to a dividing method of the small division number if there are a plurality of dividing methods of the same number of words included in the part where the translated result cannot be obtained. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
