PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a membrane separation apparatus which has a hollow fiber membrane module with a large membrane area per volume and hardly allows hollow fiber membranes to intertwine with each other.

SOLUTION: The membrane separation apparatus has a plurality of hollow fiber membrane modules 6 placed therein and can carry out an activated sludge treatment; a plurality of hollow fiber membrane modules 6 are arranged so as not to contact with each other in aeration. A membrane separation activated sludge treatment apparatus equipped with the membrane separation apparatus is provided, and so is a membrane separation activated sludge treatment method using the same.
