PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the power consumption in a power saving mode and to recover an ordinary operation mode from the power saving mode in a short time. SOLUTION: The image processor which can transit to the power saving mode is provided with: a CPU 201 for totally controlling the entire apparatus; a power saving control part 103 of which the power consumption is smaller than the CPU 201; and a detection means for detecting a recovery trigger from the power saving mode. When the processor has transited to the power saving mode, power is supplied only to the power saving control means 103 and the detection means. Further, at least a portion of data required for recovery from the power saving mode is stored in a standard RAM 210 and power is supplied thereto even in the power saving mode. Recovery processing from the power saving mode is performed by utilizing the data stored in the standard RAM 210. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
