PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a beginner identify specific symbols of different types that pass through the display window of a game machine in the rotating reel unit of a conventional game machine. SOLUTION: When a reel drum 12 rotates, a reel strip 21 pasted to the outside periphery of the reel drum 12 also rotates. Since a back lamp 14 provided in the interior of the reel drum 12 is constantly lit, the reel strip 21 rotates and the symbol such as a seven 22 or a wolf 23 passes before the front of the illuminating portion of the back lamp 14, the seven 22 luminesces redly, illuminated from behind by the emitted light of the back lamp 14 and the wolf 23 luminesces blue. The red luminescence of the seven 22 and the blue luminescence of the wolf 23 can be observed from the window 2 of a slot machine 1. Consequently, from the red luminescence observed from the window 2, the timing of passage of the seven 22 is discriminated, and from the blue luminescence observed from the window 2, the timing of passage of the wolf 23 is discriminated.
