A computer-implemented tool for investigating the chemical and or biological properties of a substance comprising a sequence of nucleic acids or amino acids, said tool comprising means for displaying in a graphical display scheme at least one substance having at least one sequence similar or identical to a sequence of the substance to be investigated in such a manner that similar and/or identical sequences are respectively displayed through a corresponding first graphical indication the position of which with respect to a first dimension corresponds to the location of said similar sequence in said substance, and means for displaying a second graphical indication corresponding to each first graphical indication and indicating a domain information corresponding to the sequence indicated by said first graphical indication.
