NORMAL TEMPERATURE MOLTEN SALT ELECTROLYTE AND ELECTROCHEMICAL DEVICE USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a normal temperature molten salt electrolyte having excellent reduction resistance and an electrochemical device having excellent electrical characteristics.

SOLUTION: This normal temperature molten salt electrolyte has cyclic quaternary ammonium cations made up of a five-membered ring comprising one nitrogen atom and four carbon atoms or a five-membered ring comprising adjacent two nitrogen atoms and three carbon atoms. Or else, this salt electrolyte contains both cyclic quaternary ammonium cations each having an aromatic ring and quaternary ammonium organic cations having no aromatic ring.
