PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a carbonylation inhibiting agent capable of inhibiting carbonylation of a protein such as keratin, a skin care preparation for external use having enhancing effects on moisture-retaining properties of the skin, and to provide a method for achieving above effects.

SOLUTION: The carbonylation inhibiting agent for the protein comprises a component originating from Leontopodium alpinum as an effective ingredient. The skin care preparation for external use having enhancing effects on the moisture-retaining properties comprises the component originating from Leontopodium alpinum as an effective ingredient. The method for enhancing moisture-retaining properties of skin comprises supplying the component originating from Leontopodium alpinum.
