<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize reduction of interface cost, speedup of data transfer and reduction of development man-hours, in an image forming apparatus for forming an image on a recording medium. <P>SOLUTION: A CPU 110, memory bridge unit 120, main memory 130, I/O bridge unit 140, switch unit 150, and graphics driver unit 160 are provided in a controller unit 100. A LAN board 252 for an external input system, a board 254 according to IEEE 1394, and a USB (universal serial bus) board 256 are provided so as to be replaced in addition to an image capturing unit 210, an image processing unit 220, and an image recording unit 230. Transmission of electric signals between the main function units such as between the unit 120 and the unit 140, between the unit 140 and the units 150, 210, 220, 230, between the unit 150 and the LAN board 252, is performed by an interface such as PIC express (R) having features of bi-directional performance, serial and peer-to-peer performance. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
