PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an answering dialogue method and apparatus capable of generating accurate answers to questions having wide-ranging topics.

SOLUTION: The answering dialogue method is provided in order to lead answers from retrieving objects against questions indicated by sentences entered with texts or voices. The answering dialogue method comprises an answer leading information extraction step extracting information necessary for leading answers from the retrieving objects against the sentences and calculating scores of its ambiguity, an answering dialogue sentence generating step automatically generating answering dialogue sentences, a retrieving objects limiting step limiting the retrieving objects based on information compensated by users to answering dialogue sentences which are generated by the answering dialogue sentences generating step, a decision step deciding whether or not answers to the questions are definitely identified with retrieved results, the answer leading information extraction step and the answering dialogue sentence generating step when the answers are not definitely identified, a repetitive action step repeating the retrieving objects limiting step, and an output step outputting a final answer which is definitely identified.
