PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader which can surely prevent an original from floating and can remove dusts by the same constitution. SOLUTION: The image reader for reading an original image while sending the original includes an original sending means A for automatically sending the original, and an image reading means B for reading the fed original by a close contact type image sensor. The means A includes a mechanism for preventing the original from floating at the reading time by the means B, and a mechanism 2 for removing the dusts at a standby time.
