PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide measuring instrument which restrains increase of parts count and can illuminate indication plate surface side. SOLUTION: The measuring instrument for vehicle is provided with a scale main body 22 which is installed in a light transmission slit 26 aperture-formed in an indication plate 12 and composed of translucent member and introduces a light for illumination from a light source 4 installed on rear face side of the indication plate 12 to surface 12b side of the indication plate 12. The scale main body 22 is protruded and formed at a specified height on the surface 12b side of the indication plate 12, and has a protruding part 22 constituted in such a manner that a side surface 22b on a pivoting region S side scatters the light for illumination and performs illumination on the surface 12b side of the indication plate 12.
