The grave stone (1) has a cut-out (3) on the outer side and in which is fitted a motif plate (6) conforming to the cut-out. The motif plate is selected from a series of different plates. The cut-out may have a back wall (4) or may extend through the whole thickness of the grave stone, and the cut-out is formed in the upper half of the grave stone. The motif plate may have the same geometric form as the cut-out, or may have another geometric form. The motif plate may be translucent.
