PURPOSE: A high dispersion optical fiber and an optical fiber utilizing the same are provided to minimize the signal distortion due to the dispersion and nonlinear effects without using a dispersion compensation optical fiber by supplying an optical cable provided with a positive dispersion optical fiber and a negative dispersion optical fiber, wherein the positive dispersion optical fiver and the negative dispersion optical fiber have a different sign, whereas the positive dispersion optical fiver and the negative dispersion optical fiber have a similar absolute size. CONSTITUTION: An optical cable utilizing a high dispersion optical fiber includes a positive dispersion optical fiber(10) and a negative dispersion optical fiber(50), wherein the positive dispersion optical fiver(10) and the negative dispersion optical fiber(50) have a different sign, whereas the positive dispersion optical fiver(10) and the negative dispersion optical fiber(50) have a similar absolute size. The positive dispersion optical fiber(10) has a (+15) - (+25) ps/nm/km dispersion, 0.05 - 0.07 pa/nm2/km dispersion gradient and 60 - 80 um2 effective cross sectional area. The negative dispersion optical fiber(50) has a (-15) - (-25) ps/nm/km dispersion, 0.08 - 0.13 pa/nm2/km dispersion gradient and 40 - 70 um2 effective cross sectional area.
