PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily perform editing or the like while holding compatibility in a file wherein data are multiplexed.

SOLUTION: A standard/independent transducing part 21 converts a file of standard AV multiplex format wherein video data and audio data are multiplexed and arranged at a body to a file of AV independent format wherein each of the video data and the audio data are collectively arranged at a body. On the another hand, an independent/standard transducer 22 converts a file of AV independent format to the file of standard AV multiplex format. The method and the apparatus can be applied to e.g. a broadcasting apparatus equipped with communication I/F.
