PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect degradation of image quality caused by an abnormal toner.

SOLUTION: A process cartridge P1 for yellow toner for forming a toner image on a recording material 8 and a process cartridge P2 for forming a magenta toner image on the recording material 8 after image formation with the process cartridge 1 can be attached to and detached from a laser beam printer 100, and a detection means 3y for detecting the quantity of toner consumed in the process cartridge P1 is provided, and the quantity of yellow toner mixed into the process cartridge P2 is estimated on the bases of the toner quantity detected by the detection means 3y, and the lifetime of the process cartridge P2 is decided on the basis of the quantity of mixed toner.
