Mitomycin B derivates with high bacteriostatic petency. G3A. Derivs. of decarbamylalkyl mitomycin B of the general formula: (where X is methoxy, or R2-R3-N-, where R2 and R3 are H, C1-C5 alkyl or aromatic hydrocarbon groups, opt. substd., R1 is C1-C5 alkyl; Y is -COR4, -SO2R5, where R4 and R5 are opt. substd. alkyl or aromatic hydrocarbon groups), are produced by reacting a cpd. (I), where Y is H in the presence of an org. base, in an inert solvent, with cpd. of formula: R4COZ, (R4CO)2O or R5SO2Z (where Z is a halide), at temp. between 0 degrees and 100 degrees C.
