PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To silence a stepping motor by lessening detent torque without much lowering holding torque or pull-in/out torque, and enhancing angular precision and suppressing vibration, in a stepping motor. SOLUTION: The stepping motor 20 is equipped with stators 21 and 22 which are constituted by piling up the pairs of yokes 21a where comb-toothed magnetic poles 21b and 21c arranged in opposition are made, and coils 21d into two or more stages and a permanent rotor 23 where the rotor magnetic poles RP of N poles and S poles are magnetized alternately in multipole. In the motor, a pole tooth PT1 is constituted so that the magnetic flux whose magnetic path covers at least one magnetic pole PT1 out of the magnetic poles constituting two comb-toothed magnetic poles may be smaller than the magnetic flux whose magnetic path covers other magnetic poles, in regard to each of the stators 21 and 22 in each stage.
