PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate fitting a passage shut-off device to piping, which is adapted to shut off a gas passage in case of abnormal overheat. SOLUTION: This passage shut-off device includes: a connecting cylinder 21 provided with joint connecting parts 22a, 22b formed on the outer peripheral surfaces connected to both ends; sheet valves 2a, 2b brought into opposite contact with the open end faces to shut off a passage and formed with a diameter smaller than the outside diameter of the connecting cylinder 21; and a first energizing means 3 for energizing the above in the direction of shutting off the passage. The device further includes: a holding member 31 for holding the sheet valves 2a, 2b in the attitude of opening the passage against the energizing force of the first energizing means 3 in a designated holding position in the connecting cylinder 21; a second energizing means 17 for energizing the holding member to a non-holding position to release the holding state of the sheet valves 2a, 2b; and a positioning means 41 for holding the holding member 31 in the holding position against the energizing force of the second energizing means 17. Further, an auxiliary chamber 23 for storing the positioning means 14 formed of raw material deformable and fusible at a preset temperature is disposed in the communicating state in the peripheral wall of the connecting cylinder 21.
