PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a CD-RW drive capable of forming a satisfactory pit in a CD-RW at the time of a low-speed recording and also a high-speed recording. SOLUTION: Periods of a multi-pulse write strategy are changed in accordance with a recording speed. A multi-pulse pattern table in a cycle of 1T and a multi-pulse pattern table in a cycle of 2T are stored in a memory 6, and one between the multi-pulse patten tables is selected in accordance with a disk type of a set CD-RW 20 and a recording speed and set in a write strategy circuit 3. Laser power can be suppressed low by selecting the multi-pulse pattern table in a cycle of 2T at the time of the high-speed recording.
