PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable USB device equipment to control the other USB device equipment. SOLUTION: A PC 1 has a relay function protocol 10 for relaying the communication between USB device equipments. A digital camera 4 has a relay function protocol 11 for communicating with the other USB device equipment through the PC 1. When the USB device equipment is connected to an USB bus, the PC 1 makes an inquiry to the equipment whether it is loaded with the relay function protocol 11 or not, and stores its response. The PC 1 transmits, in response to an operation request from a camera 4, a list of operable USB device equipments to the camera 4 and transmits an operation list of selected equipment to the camera. According to a user's instruction, the relay function protocol 11 of the camera 4 transmits a control command for the selected USB device equipment to the USB device equipment concerned through the relay function protocol 10 of the PC 1.
