PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measurement method and a measuring apparatus of characteristic values for preventing damage to actual machine facilities and securing stable operation by accurately grasping the extrusion characteristics in massive objects. SOLUTION: In the method for measuring the characteristic values of a massive object, the massive object filled into the space of a rectangular parallelepiped surrounded by the extrusion surface, its opposing surface, a bottom surface, and two sidewall surfaces is pushed out or compressed toward the opposing surface to measure a load on the extrusion surface, a load on the sidewall surfaces, or further a load on the opposing surface. In the method, a method for measuring the characteristics of the massive object for measuring a load on the bottom surface of the filled massive object is provided (1). The measuring apparatus for executing the method in (1) is provided (2). (1) and (2) in the above are appropriate for measuring the extrusion or compression characteristics of a coke cake.
