PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for attaching and detaching a charging hole lid of a coke oven, with which the lid alignment operation of the inclined lid is efficiently carried out and the removal operation of the lid is smoothly performed. SOLUTION: A lid attaching and detaching machine 11 is arranged in an inner carrier and is supported on a fixing machine frame 15 for the lid attaching and detaching machine, horizontal supporting shafts 57 and 57' are installed above the fixing machine frame 15 and the lid attaching and detaching machine 11 is rotatable in the direction of the furnace group of the coke oven. The lid attaching and detaching machine 11 is rotated around the horizontal supporting shafts 57 and 57' in the direction of the furnace group by the extension and contraction drive of a cylinder 27 and the lid attaching and detaching machine 11 is inclined according to the inclination angle of the lid 40 of the coke oven. The inner carrier 64 is moved until the inclination center Q of the lid 40 is in coincidence with the inclination center Q' of the lid attaching and detaching machine 11 by an inner carrier driving cylinder 65 in an inclined state of the lid attaching and detaching machine 11 to perform alignment.
