PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To bind paper sheets of various kinds of sizes at a desired position while preventing size increase or complication of a paper sheet treatment device. SOLUTION: If the size of paper sheets is smaller than B4 size, a paper sheet bundle is pushed up by a discharging claw, and fed upwardly, and the distance to a saddle stitching position is controlled after an end part of the paper sheet bundle passes across a paper presence/absence sensor. On the other hand, if the size of paper sheets is not smaller than the B4 size, the distance to the saddle stitching position is≥182 mm, the paper sheet bundle is pushed up and the end part of the paper sheet bundle is detected by the paper presence/absence sensor, and the paper sheet bundle is fed downwardly with the detected position as a reference. In each case, the feed is controlled by the step number of a stepping motor. The paper sheet bundle is fed upwardly if the paper sheet size is smaller than the B4 size, or fed downwardly if the paper sheet size is not smaller than the B4 size with the position at which the end part of the paper sheet bundle passes across the paper presence/absence sensor as the reference. If the paper sheet size is the B4 size, the paper sheet bundle is stopped at the position where the end part of the paper sheet bundle passes across the paper presence/absence sensor (Step S107 to Step S111).
