An image processing system, imaging device and method, recording medium, and program that allow a large amount of image data to be efficiently transferred to a difference device. A digital camera (1) transfers, after transferring untransferred thumbnail image data, image data to a server (5). When new thumbnail image data are produced during transferring the image data, the transfer of the image data is stopped so that the new thumbnail image data are transferred precedently. When receiving the thumbnail image data, the server (5) displays the thumbnail images on a display device, and then accepts a request for image data transfer from a user and supplies it to the digital camera (1). The digital camera (1) transfers, based on the request, the image data to the server (5). The invention is applicable to a digital still camera.
