<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain titanium silicon carbide (Ti<SB>3</SB>SiC<SB>2</SB>) powder by an easy vacuum heating synthesis so as to improve the characteristics by homogenization while suppressing production of a residual titanium carbide (TiC) phase, and to provide a method for manufacturing the powder. <P>SOLUTION: The metal ceramic powder comprises titanium silicon carbide (Ti<SB>3</SB>SiC<SB>2</SB>) having ≤1 wt.% titanium carbide (TiC) content. The metal ceramic powder is manufactured by heating a mixture powder of titanium (Ti), silicon (Si) and titanium carbide (TiC) in vacuum. Or, the metal ceramic powder is manufactured by heating a mixture powder of titanium (Ti), silicon carbide (SiC) and carbon (C) in vacuum. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
