<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information providing apparatus for providing a psychological state of target people as information for evaluation of intelligent activities in a conference or a discussion arrangement or the like. <P>SOLUTION: A recognition apparatus 10 consists of a behavior grasping section 32 and a psychological state recognition section 34. The behavior grasping section 32 grasps instantaneous behaviors of the target people such as lines of sight, nictation, body motions and voice of the target people on the basis of image data of the photographed target people and recorded voice data of the target people. A behavior recognition section 44 in the psychological state recognition section 34 obtains feature data 50 for grasping features as to the behaviors of the target people on the basis of the instantaneous behaviors, a behavior state introduction section 46 obtains state data 52 denoting sentimental elements, that is, internal states of the target people, and a state change estimate section 48 outputs psychological data 54 being a result of estimating the psychological states of the target people.
