<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing roller which improves smoothness of a contact part between a release layer of the fixing roller and a separating claw and has the lifetime extended and to provide a manufacturing method therefor. <P>SOLUTION: A fixing roller 11 is used in an electrophotographic image forming apparatus and has a release layer 4 formed on a core bar 1, and portions Ar and Bm having different surface roughnesses are provided on the release layer 4. A hard roller having a surface shape curved is used, and the surface roughness of the hard roller is set to a requested surface roughness or lower of the release layer 4, and the surface roughness of the release layer 4 in the portion Bm to be abutted with the separating claw provided in the image forming apparatus and that in the portion Ar to be not abutted with the separating claw are made lower by varnishing of pressing the hard roll to the release layer 4 with a certain pressure. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
