SOLUTION: This method is a driving method for driving a liquid crystal panel having scanning electrodes and signal electrodes by a multiple line driving method for selecting a plurality of scanning lines at the same time, and virtual data are generated based on a plurality of gradation data corresponding to a plurality of scanning electrodes to be selected at the same time; a predetermined calculation is carried out based on the gradation data, the virtual data, and an orthogonal function for specifying a signal given to the scanning electrodes; the signal to be given to the signal electrodes during a selection period is modulated by a pulse width based on the data obtained from the predetermined calculation; and the virtual data is generated so that the sum of any number of ones or zeroes of individual bits in the case that the plurality of gradation data is expressed by binary digits and any number of ones and zeroes of individual bits corresponding to the case that the virtual data are expressed by binary digits makes an even number.
