PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid writing material which contains an organic pigment dispersed therein and suffers from neither precipitation nor uneven distribution of the pigment therein so that a uniform color tone can be obtained, and which, even when two or more pigments are used, can give a uniform mixture without causing nonuniformity in color to thereby give a good writing. SOLUTION: The solid coloring material is obtained by dispersing coloring material(s) comprising one or more organic pigments which have a mean particle diameter of 0.12-0.60μm and in which the volume of particles having a diameter of 0.05-1.7μm is 80% or higher, in a liquid material comprising at least one of or a combination of a gelling agent, a wax and a resin, and solidifying the dispersion.
