PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine tool effectively using a regenerative power generated in decelerating a mobile body for cooling a headstock and reducing a power to be fed to a cooling device by the regenerative power. SOLUTION: When decelerating a tool rest 1, the regenerative power generated in servo motors 2 and 3 flows in a control device 4 and the regenerative power is converted to the heat by a heat radiating resistance 5 connected to the control device 4. The heat radiation of the heat radiating resistance 5 is recovered by a regenerator 6a of an absorption refrigerator 6 and cooling medium of a main shaft cooling unit 7 is cooled by a vaporizer 6c. The cooling medium flows through a cooling pipe disposed in the headstock 9 adjacent to the main spindle motor 8 by a pump 7a and cools the main spindle. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
